November 12th (week 9): Our baby now looks like this: (one and three-quarter inch tall). The baby begins to flex muscles, but Katy will not yet be able to feel it.

November 15th: We have our second meeting with Cindy, our midwife. Since Katy is having a stomach flu today, we did not do the physical as originally planned. However, today we can hear the baby's heartbeat using a listening device. For a brief 47 second, medium-quality recording of the heartbeat click here. For the high-quality recording of the full session (189 seconds) click here. In the recordings, two heartbeats are audible. The faster heartbeat is that of the baby (about two beats per second) and the slower heartbeat is Katy's (about once per second).

November 19th (week 10): The baby now looks like this: (two inches tall).

November 20th: Katy gets the flu shot today.

November 26th (week 11): The baby now looks like this: (two and a half inch tall).

November 29th: Katy has a physical exam at Hall Health.  (Katy) Midwife Cindy Rogers listened to my heart, lung, and did a pep smear exam.  She also measured the size of my uterus.  She said looks like things are going just the way they should be.  We also listened to baby's heart beat, it's again so fast and strong.  When she is doing the pep smear, she said I should have plenty of room for the baby to pass through on delivery, which is really nice to know!

November 30th: Katy does an ultrasound exam at her work at Siemens.  (Katy) This time they have 3 different machines all lined up to compare the images (Acuson, Antarius, Elegra). Kim (the technician) also made a short video tape for me recording baby's movement.  I watch it again and again, can't get my eyes off it... It's amazing how much you can see using ultrasound.  When the baby gets bigger, the image can only capture parts of the baby's body, but we will be able to see organs in much more detail. A portion of the video can be seen by clicking here. Below are a few images of the baby (click on them for a larger image).
